AMA Recap: Kylin Community AMA with members of the Core Team
First AMA in a while with the core team at Kylin Network
The Kylin Community, for the first in a protracted period of time, had an AMA session with members of the core team. In persons of Sylvain Cormier, Tech Lead of Kylin Network, and Agbona Igwemoh, aka A.G, Operations and Marketing Lead of Kylin. The highly interactive and engaging session was held on the Community public chat channel.
The engaging session was exciting and educating and gave the community members a first-hand idea of how serious the Kylin team is in the development of a decentralized truth machine. This article also serves as a transcript of the conversation during the AMA. Let's get started.
Introductions
Sylvain Cormier, Tech lead
Hi there, I'm Sylvain! I've been the tech lead since April. I come from a software development background. 20+ years of a software developer. Worked in many areas such as civil, aerospace, and electrical engineering, digital arts, motion graphics, medical and space 3D simulations, manufacturing, and banking. Switched over to blockchain in 2018. Worked on several projects using Tendermint, EOSIO, Hyperledger, Ethereum, FLOW, and Substrate.
Passionate about effective decentralization. I feel privileged to be working on such an amazing project.
Agbona Igwemoh, Operations and Marketing Lead
Hello Everyone
My name is Agbona Igwemoh. I currently lead Operations and Marketing at Kylin Network. Prior to joining Kylin, I have always been a crypto enthusiast ever since I found out about the technology in late 2017 and early 2018.
At first, I was heavily involved with several communities on the Steem blockchain, and that is how I found out about Beam Privacy.
I got involved with Beam Privacy, where I was hired by Dylan Dewdney, who was then the Chief Evangelist of the privacy-centric blockchain. I joined Beam first as its Lagos Ambassador, then became its African Lead (the first ever regional lead).
Before leading the project development of its first DAO, Beam Outreach, with its dedicated token $RAYS.
I worked with Sovereign Wallet briefly as one of its Marketing Managers as we tried to bring a CBDC-based project to market. I helped them raise over $3M in 3 Pre-IEO rounds. Before I Co-Founded Bictory Finance with a good connection, where I served as its Operations Lead, I helped raise $5M+ as we developed a suite of financial products for a new and innovative Blockchain known as Concordium.
I’m here to drive Kylin’s success, first ensuring its team operations run efficiently, then helping promote its product to existing and new markets.
Thank you.
AMA QUESTIONS
Section 1: Pre-Selected Questions
BullSander (Host)
📌 Question: What are your goals for Kylin? What are your expectations? Can you tell us more about that?.
Answer:
⚡️ Sylvain: One of my goals is for Kylin to become a way for people to expedite what they want to get done by obtaining decentralized validation of the truthfulness of the data they are relying on to make their claim.
Another one of my goals is for Kylin to become an autonomous and decentralized data market. The exchanges and offerings on this market will provide extra insights on the quality of the data itself, the debated question, or the intrinsic importance of the feed.
💥 Agbona: My goals for Kylin are on 3 fronts
1. Product: Help the technical team in any way possible (recruitment, insight, and communication) to drive product development that has a market fit.
2. Revenue: With our new market and product vision, we’re aiming to become a modular and configurable data framework for all web3 middleware. Hence our data will feed business/developers that there will be revenue generated from several points in this endeavor. Lastly.
3. Marketing: This part is a little broad but entails trying new things in innovative ways and utilizing existing and proven methods. We need to promote the DeData narrative, placing Kylin at the heart of it all.

📌 Question: When Ford Focus?
Answer:
💥 Agbona: So, I have spoken to the Founders of the project, and we have a plan in place for this. It will be announced in the coming weeks.
BullSander (Host)
📌 Question: With the Polkadot crowdloan approaching, people want to know Will the 15% for the Polkadot crowdloan be entirely used for the first auction.
Answer:
⚡️ Sylvain: Maybe, it depends. We will use as much as is needed to win the auction.
BullSander (Host)
📌 Question: When do we receive the crowdloan details?
Answer:
⚡️ Sylvain: The process is documented by Polkadot here: https://polkadot.network/auctions/. The auction starts on august 28 and ends 5 days later; crowdloan details depend on the outcome of this auction. If the auction succeeds and we get our slot, I understand you get your stake back plus some KYL. Is there something else you would like to know? I might have to get back to you after the AMA.
💥 Agbona: Just to add to what Sylvain has said, we’ll be releasing a detailed crowdloan similar to what we did for the Kusama crowdloan. Keep your eyes peeled for that one in the nearest future.
BullSander (Host)
This would be a good time also to let the community know that we as a team would like to ask the community to start fully focusing on the fundamental progress that's being made. Kylin Network will be here to stay, it does take time to build this, though. What we need is a community that is willing to help build and take a long-term stand!
BullSander (Host)
📌 Question: When new listing?
Answer:
⚡️ Sylvain: We are currently concentrating our efforts on making PCHU and KYL available on other parachains to make our presence in the Polkadot ecosystem
💥 Agbona: We're currently working on some tier-1 exchanges but are still in the early stages. The main effort with regards to listing right now is getting $PCHU airdropped to the community. For the time being, we have had a preliminary conversation with our friends at Acala. We’re exploring having $PCHU listed on Acala/KararuSwap in the nearest future, after TGE.
BullSander (Host)
📌 Question: Who will run the first validators on Polkadot? Or I believe that is collators.
Answer:
⚡️ Sylvain: Yes, we are a parachain so we run collators. The development team will initially run the first two collators required for blocks to start being made. Subsequent collators will go through the democracy pallet for the registration process.
BullSander (Host)
📌 Question: How does Kylin Network approach decentralized governance of the network, and what are the steps that will be taken to achieve this?
Answer:
⚡️ Sylvain: Decentralized governance is essential to running an oracle system.
It is one of our immediate priorities.
For this, we have undertaken the following:
• Integrating the democracy pallet into the collator codebase. These changes should roll out on the next runtime upgrade scheduled soon next week
And the following will be done:
• Participation of community, developers, and founders to elaborate and vote on DAO policies.
• Modify Sudo to technical committee to Polkadot democracy v2
• Testing and report
• Incentivize and encourage voting
• Contribute our own flavor of democracy to the democracy pallet by implementing quadratic voting and augmented voting.
BullSander (Host)
📌 Question: Do you have an update on which phase are we in when it comes to the SBP?
Answer:
⚡️ Sylvain: We have not yet received the submission results to the substrate builder’s program. Since we have substantially researched and are still preparing the foundation on which the suggested milestones will be undertaken. We have started eating away at these milestones in certain areas.
In any case, the program has already been very helpful by providing us with guidance in operations.

📌 Question: I have a question for Agbona. What are your goals for Kylin? What are your expectations? Can you tell us more about that?
💥 Agbona: So, when I joined Kylin, there wasn’t much going on on the community front. Twitter only had a few tweets in months, and the communication was down despite a lot of technical development going on with help from Sylvain and the technical team.
The first goal was to create a system where the community expects the team to give an update, and the team is held accountable for meeting this expectation.
This gave birth to the weekly community update, the first goal achieved.
Now, every week, we have a commitment to give an update on what happened at Kylin for the past week.
Now, I joined at an interesting point in the development of Kylin when it is Morphing into something bigger, not just developing an Oracle, but solving an infrastructural problem where we have decentralized applications running on centralized infrastructure.
This is the driving force behind the Decentralized Data paradigm, where Kylin will join forces with other projects to provide a synergistic web3 middleware stack.
I worked closely with the Founders in the development of the new pitch deck, project wiki, and a couple of pertinent markets and vision positioning I cannot mention yet.
Now to my expectations, we have high hopes for Kylin Network in the DeData ecosystem. As such, we expect Kylin to hit a high valuation in the foreseeable future while delivering functional and revenue-generating products.
🔔 Community Q&A 🔔
💡 Community Question: Hello, What's your main focus right now, are you focused on the community or market/Exchange or the products?
⚡️ Sylvain: Focus is mainly product from my end, but AG: will tell you otherwise because that's his job
💡 Community Question: Hello Revenue is an important aspect for all projects to survive and maintain the project/company. How have you been able to build a complete project and what is the way to generate profit/revenue of the token? What is the income model?
⚡️ Sylvain: We are currently implementing fees throughout the system at different phases. More importantly, we are putting into place mechanisms that will promote the perennity of the project.
Decentralized and federated systems can provide greater resilience in the face of shocks and disruptions, as well as more flexibility and adaptability over time. They can also promote more equitable and democratic decision- making processes, and allow for more effective and efficient resource allocation.
💡 Community Question: Do you have a video tutorial so we can learn more about your project? Do you have a YouTube channel or something? Can you share it with everyone?
💥 Agbona: Yes, you can check out our Project Wiki here: https://wiki.kylin.network/ and subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/KylinNetwork
💡 Community Question: Can you answer my question How can I buy this token? Is it available on any exchange?
💥 Agbona: $KYL is listed on several CEX'es and Dex'es. It's on the website, make a pick. https://www.kylin.network/
💡 Community Question: Many projects have problems with UI / UX and this one turns off new users. How do you plan to improve the interaction with new users and with users outside the crypto space?
⚡️ Sylvain: Thanks for your input; yes, we are currently using ready-made, available tools ex: polkadot-js, and polkassembly These are plenty satisfactory for practical use.
I really hope people will forego their need for slickness for now and still get involved with the processes that will be required from the community soon.
💡 Community Question: Hello, what was the biggest milestone your project has? What is plan in the future ?
💥 Agbona:
Kusama parachain slot lease ✅
Polkadot Parachain auction ⏳
Plan for the future: To become a blue-chip Polkadot project
💡 Community Question: I want to support your project, Tell us more about the Ambassador Program and in what ways can we participate?
💥 Agbona: This is part of the plans for the project, we currently have an ambassador program called KAP. It will be revitalized in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to our announcement channel, so you don't miss out.
https://t.me/kylin_announcement
💡 Community Question: Hello According to the project's roadmap- what are your most important next.
💥 Agbona: Polkadot Parachain auction, delivering a working product in line with the Substrate Builders Program.
💡 Community Question: Hello What is the most ambitious goal of your project? Could share with us any Upcoming Updates?
⚡️ Sylvain: This project is the making of a truth machine. It will keep private entities from hijacking the narrative, quantify the validity of a vote, diminish whale voting power, give data market value and better organize the way we perceive, control and monetize our data.
Updates: check: https://github.com/Kylin-Network/kylin-collator/issues for progress!
💡 Community Question: Your project name seems to be very interesting. Does it have any story behind it? Can you share us with the inspiron for approaching to this name?
💥 Agbona: Kylin was derived from the Qilin, a magical beast native to China. They were deer-like creatures with the ability to look into a person’s soul and unveil if they were truly pure of heart. Hence, Kylin is a Truth Machine.
💡 Community Question: Is your platform suitable for Crypto beginners? Or is it only appealing to professional users?
⚡️ Sylvain: Technically, yes, it is suitable for beginners. Alot of the interfaces are web-based. As long as the "crypto beginner" understands what the project does and what it's about, he/she/it should be able to contribute.
💡 Community Question: Do you allow suggestions and feedback from the community? Are we allowed in decision-making, do you put the community into consideration?
💥 Agbona: Communities are the bloodstream of any web3 project. A project with a bolstering community will win against one with a less active one.
As Sylvain mentioned, we'll soon have our democratic pallet go live. This opens up the opportunity for community members to take an active role in some of the processes of the project. Stick around, and you'll get the nudge to get onboard once a working product is delivered.
💡 Community Question: Most of users are still not aware with Blockchain & its related projects ! So, How Your Project platform create awareness about their project with NON-CRYPTO users too?
💥 Agbona: We have an educational series planned up that may involve Slyvain with a whiteboard and pen doing some explanations or some sleek videos explaining complex stuff to our community members. Or articles, infography, etc.
Whatever the format is, we have content coming to educate our community on how to play a part in the Kylin journey.
💡 Community Question: Hello What are plans in for global expansion? Are you focusing on market at this time or focus on building and developing or getting customers and users, or partnerships?
💥 Agbona: A bit of both, Sylvain is heavy on delivering a working product, while I focus first, on global expansion, partners etc, once we have a product, then my focus will change to revenue generation.
💡 Community Question: Staking programme is very important for any project, Can i stake your token? Do you have any plan of starting staking programme?
💥 Agbona: Yes we do
https://staking.kylin.network/
💡 Community Question: Do you have AUDIT certificate or are you working to AUDIT your project, so that the security of the project becomes more secure and reliable?
💥 Agbona: Yes we were audited by certik
https://www.certik.com/projects/kylinnetwork
💡 Community Question: What are the benefits of holding your token as long term investment? Can you tell us about the motivation and benefits for investors to keep the your token in the long run?
⚡️ Sylvain: Hi, thanks for your question.
Every major update should be translated by an increase in price, then a correction and then the mistreatment by the general crypto market. Kylin will undergo major essential updates soon that will ensure its base value with recurring subsequent milestones. Like investing in any project, keeping for the long haul is the right way to invest. This project also has lots of room to get involved
💡 Community Question: Audit is important for both trust and security. Have you done any audit of smart contract?
⚡️ Sylvain: We do not use smart contracts but substrate pallets. Full auditing is part of the software development cycle at Kylin
💡 Community Question: Hello We’re very interested in hearing more about your roadmap. What is coming up in the short term that is important for our community to know about?
💥 Agbona: Our Polkadot parachain auction
💡 Community Question: Staking, NFT is very hottest, do you think you will apply NFT technology to your products in the achieved future?
⚡️ Sylvain: Yes, we plan to implement Dynamic NFTs to certify the instances of our oracles
💡 Community Question: Bear cycle. In a bear run where most of the projects fail and sometimes gone into oblivion, how will your project stand the test of times? What strategies do the project employ to mitigate possible losses?
⚡️ Sylvain: Bear cycle => development. Focus on product, forge alliances, code bridges and symbiotic processes with other entities of the ecosystem.
Adhere to the ethos and become an essential part of the parachain eco-system which will ensure perennity. Many such perks are enjoyed by 3rd generation blockchains.
That wraps up what can be described as an exciting AMA.
As Promised, The best two questions win $50 Worth of $KYL each.
The relevant amount of $KYL have already been sent, and at the time this article was written, both winners have confirmed the reception of their prizes.
